I was wondering the same thing. I have seen a lot of guys hunting the Yakima canyon on my drive back up to Ellensburg on saturdays and sundays. Doesn't mean it is good, but they sure have been out in force.

I've heard mixed reports from the friends who've hunted down around the Hell's Canyon (WA/OR/ID all 3) area.  Overall not a great year but there are some decent pockets of birds around.

I've only seen a few this year in the highlands of the Okanogan. This summer I was seeing quite a few...I'm not sure what happened, but they're not around any more.

Up around Oroville I've seen a few...here's the breakdown.

There are a couple of good covey holding on the Eder Unit near Oroville, but no one can hunt there. Call your State Rep.

I saw a few more last week on the way up to Chopaka, but as high country pointed out the cacti are really bad this year. Even my dog booties were not all that effective. I ended up bailing on the hunt because my dog kept stepping in them. He can smell them and normally picks his way around, but not this year. I actually carried him back to the truck to save myself the hassle of having to pick his feet later. The snow is really starting to come down up high so maybe that will push them down.

I also got in to a small covey out near Smilikameen Rd. along the river.

Anyway good luck.

-Corey

what kind of boots are you using? I am entertaining the lewis boots or the ones cabelas sells. I just dont want to have to do it twice. my FIL's english had a catus stuck to his man part.......that was tough to see.
