I had a licensed taxi do a shoulder mount on my 2013 WT. He had done a few for my dad and friends years ago and they turned out fine, but not perfect. He charges about $350 and has a six month turnaround.
I thought I would give him a shot thinking he  probably improved since the one he done for dad was many years ago. Since he is in SE WA & I'm in western wa, I had my dad pick it up, so I wasn't there to complain before it left the shop.
I told him I wanted a semi up right form looking left and I got a standard upright formlooking forward. My biggest complaint is the nose!!!......it seems crooked, the nostrils still have blood in the & the nose just looks terrible. Almost like a dried up prune or something.
So.....
What are my options? I could call him, but he is old , just lost his wife and I'm not sure I trust him to try and fix it. I could however ask for some $ back.
Are there Amy taxidermist in western Washington close to Redmond, fall city, NorthBend who could do anything short of starting from scratch with a different cape.
Though not a huge buck, it hold a lot of sentimental value as it will probably be the last one I get to take with my aging dad.
Any suggestion are appreciated. Keep in mind, I just had a kid and we are buying a house so money is somewhat of an issue.

Thanks,

Tyson

Ya, I would to. I would call natures way but I'm not sure what he can do with it. that's a nice buck I would call him and at least get money back or try. but more then likely you won't. and do not take it back to him.

I would email some taxis, some photos ask what could be done about the nose and live with the rest.

That came from a licensed taxidermist?  Must not take much to get a license.  Sorry, that looks awful. :(

All it takes to become licensed is money.

That is a horrible mount. I have a mule deer mount that I thought was mad...
That's bad.

$350? Sounds like you got what you paid for. Sorry you're disappointed.

Your very right $350 was too good to be true.
Should have just stuck to euros.
Now I have to pay to fix this one. Don't want to recape and form for another $800 so hopefully I can just get the nose looking more normal by someone.
Worst case scenario. ...i cut my losses & turn him into a euro if I can find a real skull.
Pretty bummed

I speak from experience so don't feel condemned. I am a cheapskate from birth and it seems as though the life study is determining which areas one can wisely go low cost in, and in which areas it's better to spend big bucks up front.  I have a trophy elk tag this fall and I'm emotionally preparing myself for the $1,300 a "basic" shoulder mount is going to cost.

OTOH I've recently learned that Crapple Macintrash is not a wise purchase for computers. Esp given their exorbitant cost. I have one of their laptops that cost an arm and a leg and died due to a manufacturing defect. Last less than two years. Costco would have been 50% cheaper and would have replaced it within 2 years. Live and learn I guess.  :bash:
