I miss pig hunting. Thought about going to CA last year but for that price I might as well go to Georgia or Texas where there is no limit. Good times.
I have hunted them in Cali, but the low prices and availability of pigs in Texas...

If a little pig like that can make Bear Grylls bleed imagine what a big one could do to one of us lesser men!

Growing up, my grandfather told me that his grandfather was killed many years ago by a feral hog. The story was that he shot and wounded one. The hog ran into thick timber, so he dismounted his horse to follow it. His dogs quickly cornered the hog and he caught up. Before he could take a shot, the hog charged, scattered the dogs, and cut his femoral artery with it's tusk.

Now I'm not sure if this is actually how it went down, obviously I wasn't there. However, I've hunted plenty of hogs in Texas and Georgia and that is certainly something they are capable of doing, as you can see in some of the emergency room photos in this video.

Hogs are lots of fun to hunt, but that story is one that is always in the back of my mind when I'm out after them.

200$ for first pig, 100$ for each additional pig = Is what I was just looking up for guided hog hunts.

How much meat can you get from an average wild hog?  I would think if you get big enough hogs, it could be cheaper than store bought pork.  :dunno: And a hell of a lot more fun than grocery shopping!

This video demonstrates a couple of hunters turning the tables and shooting them with thermal optics at night. It's not fair chase hunting by any stretch of the imagination, but these guys really put a hurting on some hogs tearing up a farmer's field.
