Oregon hunting???
« on: July 01, 2014, 01:57:10 AM »
Well, I applied for my controlled buck tag, not drawn, kinda what I expected to happen. But anyways I have a Oregon state hunting license now that's just sitting here and I got to thinking why not give a Oregon blacktail a try this year? I could take a few days and hunt in Oregon for coast blacktail, then come back home to Washington and hunt for a nice blacktail or maybe a mule deer. I don't know Oregon at all and was wondering if someone might be able to point me in a good direction? I'm not asking for a honey hole, but a generally decent area for a good blacktail? Thanks!

If you're going to hunt Oregon why not do something that is different or unavailable in Washington.  If it's Blacktails you really want then try the southern end of the state. Jackson County, etc. for open Oak forest and scrub land deer that are very different than what you find in WA, even though they are Blacktails they tend to have a lot of Muley blood in them.
Wish I could earn a living hunting!

Did you buy a deer tag already? If not you need to. The cost is $383.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Nope I have not gotten a Oregon deer tag yet, just the license which I had to get to apply for the draw. $383 means I'll just work a little overtime. Got some benchlegs down towards the southern end eh? Shoot I'd love to go for something different in Oregon, but I'd need to draw for it, ie speed goat. Thank you for the info, any more would be appreciated.

I would also say go to southwest Oregon. This year the season goes a week into November, I think to November 8th. I would hunt that last week. There's no better time to hunt blacktails.

I wanted to do just that this year, but can't afford it.
