Eagle caps bulls!
« on: July 01, 2014, 09:13:04 AM »
I'm hitting the eagle caps this September if we get shut down for fire danger on the coast.  Just seeing if anyone has some eagle caps bulls to post so I can get pumped up for the terrain!

Hunted the caps last September. No bulls hit the ground but we were into them every day and probably saw at least 20-30 different bulls on our hunt. It was truly a hunt to remember and you can't beat laying in your tent at night and listening to bulls bugle all around you.

That is the way we went in. Did you go in on horse or on foot?

both horse in and on foot out . outfitter was a complete JA. with sick horses and terrible camps . the elk I found where in way deeper than they took us . I've heard of guys going in the east side with better results . btw if any one is concidering moss springs outfitters you have to be crazy . when we went in 39 hunters one spike bull, two muledeer . I shoot a nice 4x4 about five miles from my drop camp and some other guy shot a two point . the elk where deeper in or on the agricultural areas before the eagle caps  :twocents:

Chase, I'll let you know where the elk were, after your dad, uncle and I kill our bulls on the rifle hunt.  :chuckle:

I'm really struggling.  I drew the 1st season Minam bull tag this year, but my wife drew a Mt. Emily bull tag (with 17 points) for the very next week.  I know hers is the tag to concentrate on, and I will get great satisfaction guiding her to her first bull, but damn I really want to hunt elk this year too...  It's pretty hard to justify 2 non resident elk tags - especially if I won't have a full week to use mine.

wolves are getting thick in there. We woke up to them howling this morning 300 yards from the tent. It's changing the whole name of the game as far as the eagle caps elk are concerned.
