I guess this question kind of goes with the last thread I started, but also a more focused question.

Is anyone on this site a member of either Cascade, Whistling Wings, or Rainier Hunting Retriever Clubs?  Or familiar with any of them?

I'm just wondering if anyone has had really positive (or negative) experiences, would recommend one of them for a newbie, etc.

Thanks.

Whistling Wings/Rainier/Cascade all pretty much train and run in the same areas.

A lot of people are members in all three.

You might hook up with some folks first and then go to the events/clubs they go to.

Firstly, where are you located?

I'm in the San Juan Islands.  Looking at locations, all three clubs are within a couple hours, so that's OK.  It looks like Whistling Wings has a practice day on July 13.  I might just go watch and try to meet some people...

You are on the right track.  Most clubs welcome new people.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

Get in contact with Happy Gilmore (Paul) he is very familial with the retriever clubs around and has (not sure if he still does) sat on board, holding different positions of office.

I used to volunteer as a shooter for the Rainier Retriever club and all have good people in the but that said, they also have there "busy body's" too.

Check out the events and volunteer to help out

I actually had a great conversation with Sam Pace from Whistling Wings yesterday, and everyone sounds very helpful.  I'm going to their practice on Sunday, so I guess I'm jumping in!

Thanks everyone!

Just in case anyone is interested, I went to Whistling Wing's training day on Sunday, and it was great!  It was exactly what I was hoping for...super helpful people, really nice...definitely made me want to go again.  I was also pleasantly surprised to find so many women there.  There may have even been more women than men (?)

Anyway, I'm going again to their training day in August, then doing the hunt test with Amber in August.  Let me know if any of you are going too!
