I need some help finding a copy
« on: December 03, 2008, 05:47:46 PM »
I am looking for a copy (vhs/dvd/bootleg) of a television show that aired a couple months ago about Bear Haven in Alaska. The guy started feeding black bears and then the Browns showed up. During the interview a bear takes a swipe at the guy and he ends up swatting the bear. It was a great show that I have saved on vhs, but accidentally recorded over the other day. If anyone has a copy I would gladly pay shipping to get it.

Here are a couple links to articles about the guy.

Wow... Quite a video! Agree with him or not - it's pretty amazing.

Thanks.

I thought it was on the Discovery Channel, but the only info online about him was with 60 minutes.

This guy is off his friggin nut. I would likely p*ss myself just being that close to ONE bear, let alone 27. I'm glad the ol' boy found his niche in life, but he is crazy as a sh*thouse rat. :bdid:

I assume you are talking about a different video than the one in the third link...

Here is a quote from the second link,
"Richard Terry is an English cameraman making a television series on Charlie’s life for Animal Planet and has been documenting all the action at ‘Bear Haven’ for the past month."

Willy- Check the Anchorage Daily News, (www.adn.com) I remember an article of a guy that lived up the Yenta River a ways, anyhow the story fits with what they aired about him.  He had a mix of browns and blacks coming every day, put electric wire around his house to keep them out of there but otherwise they were relatively friendly to him and family.  It was about the same time aired as that moron Timothy Treadwell movie came out.  Problem was they aired it on local tv and showed basically whyere it was at on the map and did an aerial fly over also.  My understanding he had several hunters awaiting near his property for feeding times to arrive.   ;)

Thanks. I will check it out.
I know the guy was facing legal trouble over the feeding.

Just got off the phone with the Discovery Channel and they tried to look it up and nothing came up about "Bear Haven in Alaska" being forsale.  She also said that it shows in the records that they didn't finnish filming it until Nov 16th.  It take 6 months to a year for post production.  Which make me think you didn't see the entire thing and that they may have a longer show getting ready to come out.  Or they might have added some footage to it.

Also if you go to the animal plannet website you can see the schedual for up coming shows.  The lady thought it was a month in advance but I didn't check to varify.  I would kep an eye open for it to re air.  Than maybe you can re record it!  :)

You may want to Google "The man who lived with bears". This may be what you are looking for...
