Bought the High Ground last year, good boot. No leakage. I think alot of the leaking claims are actually sweaty feet from too heavy socks, over insulation in the boots and generally being over dressed. As for treating my boots I clean them thoroughly then spray down with silicon waterproofing. I like the look of Danners new Gila.

No, my boots leak. When I walk in wet grass/vegetation I feel the moisture creep in. If I step through a creek, "fa getta bout it!"

Danner emailed me back and told me to send my boots in and they will evaluate them by wear and go from there...they haven't been used a whole lot...one season so hopefully they will fix or send a new pair

How long have you had them? I would hope they would replace them especially if you have had them less than a year

If you can't afford one of these, you might want to look at Under Armour.  I think the speed freeks are comparable in price, comfortableness and weight to the pronghorns, but they are far better quality.

The Pronghorns are really comfortable boots for me.  I have two pair.  The first pair are about Dix years old and while they are wearing out are dry and great for hunting.  My wife got me a newer pair two years ago and these have been problems from day one with leaking and just something "off" with the fit.

It's really too bad because I liked my first pair.  I was thinking of trying the Cabelas Meindl boots next.  Do they compare to Kennetreks?

I loved my pronghorn the 1st season I got them, tho they leaked after about a month. I am upset with how long they lasted, only 2 seasons! Not going to buy Danner again after my last ones only lasted 2 years as well. The pics make the leather look very dry but I keep them well oiled so that's not why they failed.

What do you suggest for boots then?

I have Danner Acadias which are made in the USA and about $100 more than Pronghorns. I have also used pronghorns. Comfy, but they don't last. Acadias are heavy and less comfortable, but very stable and you can pack out very heavy loads on uneven terrain with stability and confidence. They are also very waterproof after a couple years of use.

Hi Tom,
I’m sorry to hear your boots have failed to give you the performance expected from Danner products. We hold ourselves to the highest quality standards because we want to ensure that you are happy with our boots.
You can be assured that Danner stands behind our products with a one year limited warranty for recreational styles and six months for all occupational and work styles or boots used as such. Once the warranty time has expired we can still evaluate the boots based on the overall wear and condition.
Please send in your boots for evaluation. Upon our review, if it is determined your boots have an irregularity, Danner will, at its option repair, replace, or pro-rate based on the wear and tear evident. Include your name, address, telephone number, and briefly state the problem with your boots.
Please send them to:

Depending how this next pair works out I may try kenetreks....I don't mind spending a extra money on something if its worth it...you get what you pay for and I thought I payed for a good boot
