tree stand for blacktails

I know there is some threads on here about this, but i want to ask some questions. Im debating between archery and modern this year.

What areas do you look for when setting up stands? Rut zones? Feeding? Reprod? Timber?
What times are stands best for these locations?
I hunted out of stand last year and didn't see much. Need to put more time into my stand placement i think.

I don't hunt stands much but if you want to shoot Turner89 a pm I know he is a pretty savy blacktail hunter and does stand hunt at times.

I'm not an expert by any means but I like to set my treestand on heavily used trails that go from feeding areas to bedding areas. If i'm hunting the morning I will be closer to the bedding areas( In THEROY they should be coming back to bed for the day). In the evening maybe sit closer to the food source. I like setting up my treestand/groundblind in the Thick stuff where the animals feel safe. Hope this helps a little.

impossible question to answer because it all depends on the situation and terrain.

yeah i have used both with no luck and have used both with.... i know when it;s cold i prefer a ground blind ust for comfort and a heater i can throw in there.

I've had better luck with tree-stands.  I can see a little farther, I usually get a better look at the animal before commiting, and I can watch it longer after the shot.   That said, their are times when suitable trees can not be found.   In that case it makes sense to use a ground blind.

Yeah i like being able to see far out of my stand in the timber. im in longview so i have some pretty good timberlands to hunt. do you guys have any luck with baiting?

yeah i understand..... i will use both this year... i think for an open field i can set up on the tree line witha blind in the heavy stuff use a stand.

As far as baiting.... i have a ton of deer with fawns running through just on corn alone.... so it's been working ok.
