Eastern Wa early elk
« on: July 16, 2014, 09:02:54 PM »
Hey guys I've been lurking around here a while and really enjoy the info and pics!
So I thought I'd join up and get more involved.
We're coming up on early archery elk season and and I'm having a hard time getting pumped up for it.
Did not draw a bull tag and so going after spikes and cows.
I hunted east for like 7 years but have gone west the last 6. My brother and I will be headed to the cle elum area aug 9th to scout.
So tell me about what you guys are doing to get jacked up for season? Let's see some scouting pics and past succes pics!
I'll post up anything cool we run into on our scout.
Thanks !

Eli

Just eat some of last years elk! If that doesn't get you pumped...well maybe you should be golfing. :dunno: :chuckle:

You should make your cruise this weekend!  Washington State Bowhunters has it's annual Rendezvous/3D shoot on Upper Peoh Point Rd this weekend.  Check the WSB forum on here for directions.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Spike hunting has sadly been engraved into me.
I have killed 6 spikes on the east side....and I am pumped every year and all year to get after them once again!

If I could get a spike I'd be thrilled.
What's your favorite of getting on em? Calling? Spot and stalk? Water holes?

Ive been hunting westside for 23 years. Finally bit the bullet and bought eastside tags and permit apps. I was expecting to be chasing spikes and cows this year, but........I drew Mt. View quality elk with my 11 points so.....hopefully no spike for me this year. We'll see.

Welcome to the forum and remember, any time in the woods chasing any elk is time time to look forward to and cherish. Best of luck to you! :hello:

Thanks for all the responses guys and congrats ELKBURGER!!! Can't wait to see the results!
So we are thinking about the teanaway unit specifically up by cooper lake. Does anyone have any experience in that area?
I know there is some good elk in the unit but I also know there is a lot of people.
If we get up by cooper will we get away from people? Will we get into elk?
Any other directions you could point me would be greatly appreciated
