Poll

Your thoughts while archery hunting and just looking to fill your tag

He's pretty tall, got to be at least a 3pt, eye guard is bonus.... shoot
Eye guard looks like an inch ...shoot
Better not, because I'm just not sure... pass
Definitely not legal pass

Ive gone crosseyed trying to stretch eyeguards through a rifle scope before..I wouldn't risk that one.

Wish a Warden would weigh in and give their perspective. Maybe the interpretation  of the law.

I'm passing because I'm not sure that brow tine is an inch long.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Say it's archery season and you shoot it. And the velvet is still on the eyeguard, do you get to add the fraction of an inch to the total length of the eyeguard????? Or is the Gamie gonna try and shave that velvet off :dunno: :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Looks like at least an inch to me. I'd take the chance. rather eat that than eat a tag... Again.

Strait from the Regulations:

Antler Point-Deer: A projection off any part of
the antler measuring at least one (1) inch in
length measured from the longest side. Eye
guards are antler points if they at least 1
inch long.

I still thing the wording "Measured from the longest side" is ambiguous.

PS sorry for the $5 word :chuckle:

If I'm archery hunting he will be close enough to tell if he is legal. If I'm not 100% sure I won't take the shot. That picture does't tell me 100% or not. Now I hunt with bino's and use them.

Not sure, definitely pass! There is no "fine" for shooting a buck in a 3 point area with 2 points and a 3/4 or 7/8" eyeguard. If the game warden measures and it's under 1" he will confiscate the deer and cite you for shooting a 2 point deer out of season (poaching). You will have a mandatory court date before a judge in the jurisdiction you shot the deer in. Not worth the trouble. Just sayin.
