goose calling
« on: December 04, 2008, 09:19:15 PM »
I was hoping for some pointers on goose calling.  I started about 3 years ago with my father in law.  He isn't very good at calling so I cannot learn much from him.  Does anyone recommend a good video for learning?  I even bought an expensive zinks call but that thing seems hard to use.  Is there any workshops for waterfowlers out there?

Thanks guys.  I think I figured out what is going on.  I seemed to have messed up my reed.  I ordered a new and it should be here tomorrow.  I actually ordered a few extras until I get this down.

try to find someone who knows what the heck they are talking about and practice with them...its one thing to see someone on TV do it and explain it to you ...its kinda of like trying to learn to play a musical instrument by yourself...trust me the fastest way to improve is to have someone tell you what your doing wrong each time you do it ...and what you are doing right...hunting with someone who understands the birds helps a lot too, maybe you could try going on a few guided hunts or something...or just tag along... :twocents:

Thanks everyone, I think that I may have the starts of something good hear.  I am doing very well on my clucks.  I was actually able to call in 4 groups yesterday by doing a few clucks.  We father in law and I ended up bagging out limits.  I am having a hard time with learning how to moan properly.  Does anyone have any suggestions to try out?
