Nice catch. I keep forgetting to take my pots out and drop them.

Please be careful in a canoe in the sound it can get nasty quick.

Here's a rescue the coast guard just did in Bellingham a few weeks ago.

Yes for sure, thanks for the vid. Safety is number one priority doing this, me and my buddy lifejackets on at all times and one always looking for big waves coming in.

mount some RAM style rod holders on the center cross bar on your canoe.  Get the kind that's solid, not the quick lift type where you just lift the pole off the top..but the kind where you must lift the pole all the way out to get it out.

Get you wooden dowel or other rod about 2 inches in diameter, 4-5 feet long.   Long broom handle would probably work, but I'd want it a bit bigger and stronger.

get you some torpedo buoys.

drill a hole in the buoy and glue the dowel in it, then stick the dowel in your rod holder for an instant canoe stabilizer.

If I were crabbing from a canoe I'd probably have even more robust stablizers and the foam sides as pictured.  Heck with big enough stabilizer you could mount a davit  :chuckle:

That's awesome! Yes I have been planning on adding stabilizers, looked at some oversized bouys and was thinking PVC but what you showed me looks great

That's a great idea for younger kids on a lake
