muller or millet scopes
« on: July 20, 2014, 10:39:23 PM »
Has any body used either a muller of millet scopes. I have been wondering about them and dont really want to spend the money on a vortex. So looking for a cheaper scope but still good one, was looking at the vortex pst lr first focal plane scope but they are 900 bucks.

I have never used either but the Mueller's are highly recommended over on Rimfirecentral.com.

I had a Mullet for a while, but my friends were embarrassed to go shooting with me.

There are better options

Mullet, now that's funny right there..

I have a Millett on my long distance 308 shooter. Works fine. I've also seen some pretty expensive long distance rifles with an $89 Osprey scope on it. I actually shot it the first time I ever shot long distance, 1100 yards max and it worked fine too. Glass doesn't have to be expensive to hit what you're looking at.

What are you wanting to mount it onto?

Mounting it to a 300 ultra mag. I talked to Jr bit he said that they won't give me what the sg is worth. Not sure but I think my friend might let me use his night force.

I've got a Zeiss Conquest on my 300 RUM. I'd personally spend another $200 and have your way with the 300.

One thing you'll run into (literally) is eye relief on inexpensive scopes on a 300 ultra.  I've used both Millet 4-16 and 6-25 and Mueller 8-32s.  I think the Mueller has better optics, pretty even otherwise.

I think you would be better served by something from a better brand, leupold vx-I, nikon buckmaster, etc.

I'd also buy used.  Check out lots of forums, samplelist.com, and put up a 'want to buy' ad.

good luck.

The first time I shot long distance, I shot a 308 Armalite. I was gonging steel out to 800+ yards, cool scope on it too. It was a $90 Osprey scope, that was canted to boot.
