Best Wader Socks
« on: July 22, 2014, 08:02:31 AM »
A random topic here.

What are everyone's favorite boot wader sock to wear for duck hunting that helps keep you warm but not too warm that you sweat a bunch and get soaked socks.

I like my Cabela's Deluxe cold weather socks but seem to be a little to warm at times!!

Military surplus pure wool socks.  Got mine from son in law who was active AF and wool made him break out in a rash. I got all his winter supply for years.  Some are over 12 years old and still holding up well.  I have seen some in surplus store over the years, but don't remember what $$ they were selling for.  Just gotta remember to wash gently and drip dry.
There are only 2 kinds of waders, the ones that leak and the ones that are going to leak.
Even if wet, wool takes care of you.
If it gets real cold, near zero, some toe warmers add some comfort.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

I wear one pair of smart wool socks. They are warm but breathe well

i buy the thick wool "fox river" brand.  pricey but they make great wader/hunting boot socks.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
