Tag exchange / swap?
« on: August 03, 2014, 10:05:38 PM »
So I had to go in for a last minute back surgery.  :bash: I won't be released from my Doctor to do much of anything until after archery elk season  :cryriver: . Will the WDFW exchange/swap my archery elk tag for a Muzzleloader or even Modern tag? Thanks

If you did not apply for any special permit elk hunts, then you could exchange your tag without question.

If you did apply for special permits, I believe you still might be able to exchange your tag, possibly with a note from your doctor. However I am only guessing. I would call the WDFW in Olympia tomorrow morning and ask them.

360-902-2515 would be the number to call.

This happened to my daughter last year, call Olympia and they will get you to the right person, sorry I do not recall her name, anyway she drew a second dear tag and was not going to be able to hunt by then, you will have to get a note from your doctor and write a short explanation but you will also need to get this all done before the season. starts. They did re-instate my daughters points. Good Luck!

Glad to hear they did that for your, I called Dave ware 3 years ago cause my dad had heart surgery before archery season.  I tried to get his archery tag exchanged for a muzzy or rifle, he had also applied for special permits and was unsuccessful. Dave told us no, I should have went up the ladder!

Sorry to hear for your Dad. I didn't apply for any permits. I purchased the points only. So that let me be able to swap out my tag.
