I've always bought the cabelas Rain gear and it has worked and kept me dry for the most part...I've been considering upgrading my gear...how is the sitka gear? Is it worth the money?

 I'm jumping into this also this year. It appears the Sitka Downpour has a different liner this year. Inside doesn't look like a trash bag. I hunt areas where I have to sweat pretty hard to get into so I'm hoping it breathes well. The main reason I'm focusing on Sitka is because I have $550 Cabelas points and they don't carry other high end names. They did start their own line of this type of gear but I don't want to be the guinnea pig. Keep us updated on your research.

Camofire had a sitka coat and pants for  $340 for the pair and I wish I would have bought them after looking at the prices at cabelas

My Cloudburst pants and jacket arrive wednesday morning. I plan on standing under the sprinkler when they get here. Ill let you know what I think.

I like my Sitka clothes, but I like Kuiu much better. Especially the rain gear. Kuiu Chugach rain gear is hands down the best rain gear I've ever used. Cheaper too.

I like my Sitka gear, fit and finish...
I have the down pour, cloud burst, and cold front.

While fishing/working in Alaska/wa  on a boat under some real down pours, the stuff has kept me 100 percent dry. It is only till elk season in sw wa that I have not had that good of luck with any of it. Seems like the hiking and walking through brush almost pushes the water through the clothing. But at the same time, another set works perfect.

Down pour pants and jacket I only use while on the boat. If I'm sitting this stuff is perfect. When you start hiking, the inside starts to crack.

My first set of cloud burst pants and jacket leaked so bad I almost never gave them a second chance. The new pair has worked so far perfect.

Love my cold front pants during wet November hunting season. No issues. But you still must layer yourself once it gets below 38 degrees as it won't keep you/me warm enough.

Lucky for me when I did have a problem, Sitkas warranty is the best and I have been sent new clothing at no extra cost.

I love my Sitka Gear. I was licky to buy  a BUNCH from someone closing it out. My Nimbus wear has kept me bone dry for years. I was in a rain storm at Redding one year. The water was running down the hill ,hitting my boot and spashing up on my elbow at full draw. We were the only ones in our group of 20 that were dry at the end of the day.I wear AScent pants in the early early and late season. I do not wear any long underware with them. I have hunted up to 20 below zero with this stuff. Layered and the windblocker vest on top and I was never cold. I am a hiker, all Day on the feet.

  LOVE THE STUFF but it is expensive.

I don't mind savin up and buying the good good stuff as long as its worth the money that's why I'm doin my research now..I don't want to spend 5-800 on rain gear and not like it

NOT a fan of Gore-tex! I love my KUIU stuff I have always been dry in it

I have been satisfied with all my sitka gear.

As far as rain gear the Dewpoint is a light rain jacket meant to get you through a storm or for the lightweight backpacker.
The stormfront is my go-to rain gear if I am going to be hunting through brush and wet vegetation all day.

I have some lightweight rivers west rain gear for early season that I've been trying out the last month and its done alright...I'm mainly looking for oct-dec gear....I do a lot of glassing from landings and all of you coastal hunters know the weather I'll be sitting in....so it looks like its down to sitka and kuiu....sounds like either way I cant go wrong
