rem 700 sps tactical .223 reloading ??

Ok so im fairly new to reloading and every load that myself or my trusted hunting partner has worked up for my .223 seems to show excessive cratering on the primer?  i find it hard to believe its excessive pressure.  im not loading hot rounds or even near that.  even factory loads do it as well?   my partner is stumped and im unsure.  anyone have any information?   the primer seems to be the only thing thats showing any sort of pressure. the brass seems fine... the guns new, in good shape and about 100 rounds through it.

What do you mean by excessive cratering?  Is the primer flowing into the firing pin hole.  This will be visible and able to be felt as rough edge on the outside of the firing pin dent.  Is it punching holes in the primer.

If every load does it then it is not pressure.  I would guess you have a firing pin that extends too far, and weakens the primer just short of punching it.  I would shim or put some paper behind the round in the bolt face.  You may need to use some heavier paper, and see if that eliminates the edges.  If it does then your firing pin is either too long, or they machined the inside of the bolt too far.  Easy fix by sending it back as the firing pin is surface hardened.  You could file it back, but it may wear over tiem after you take the surface off.  You can take apart a bolt pretty easy without any tools.  Just need a piece of wood to push against.

If you bought the gun from a dealer that has a gunsmith in house take it back with fired FACTORY ammo not reloads.  If you bought it at warehouse type store contact the manufacture and talk to theiir customer service again just mention the problem with factory loaded cartridges.   Don't try to do a home fix on a new gun it will void your warrenty.  It sounds like you have either a slightly undersize fireing pin or oversize firingpin hole.

 Well theres your problem right there.........its a 223 and not a 22/250.....

Most likely the latter
