Shot and missed...twice!
«

Saw three bears yesterday...two of em were together. It was so dang thick and close that I wasn't able to get a good free hand shot off with the .300 win mag. Kinda of bummed but hey hunting and missing is better than not hunting. Gonna go make sure the rifle is sighted in.

I missed a few last year. And a couple the year before. Don't beat yourself up. it seems to be alot harder to kill bear than it should be

I've never shot the magnums well off hand. One of the reasons most of my bear have been killed with a 308. But even guys who are great shots punching paper with the magnums can some times get excited when bear are the target. I like the meat, but it's the excitement that brings me back every year. And bear for whatever reason... just get me excited!!!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun
Now get out of my spot dangit!!

At least you were able to see some bear. Don't beat yourself up to bad. Just get back out there after you double check the rifle. Sounds like you know where they are!

Make sure you're scope is on a low enough setting when hunting the thick crap. And make sure you spend some time practicing off hand as well.

Sometimes it just happens. I am still in disbelief over the easy shot I missed last year on an elk.

Ya it definitely got the blood pumping. We were just easing through this little valley when my buddy spotted two together walking this trail (is that weird?). My scope was on 4power, all I saw was trees, took a look with both eyes, went back down, found black and shot. They took off so of course we chased. One of em stopped 50yds away behind a tree and buck brush (of course) I took my time, going for a neck shot, squeezed the trigger and nothing! They both were long gone and no blood any where. So two hypothesis..1.) I got way too jacked up and jerked or 2.) my gun is off
. Either way I haven't had a rush like that in a while. I'm definitely going back and hopefully they're still in there (after I shoot some rounds of course). I'm hooked

Sheeet happens I guess ..I have to agree with Radsav on one thing
Anytime shooting a magnum most will pull up and jerk the hell out of the trigger ..you need to bare down and SQUEEZE the trigger ..it is hard especially when something just pops up out of nowhere ...get back at it .. I am pumped and peeeesed right now but that has gave me the extra push this I NEED TO GET MY LAZY TAIL OFF THE COUCH ...

We will get em next time! Lets discuss rifle options, thinking yours is a bit too much for our less that 100 yrd shot. Obviously, ha ha. Keep your head up man! I think it was worth missing, simply to be able now to process it ourselves and use some new purchased equipment!
