if you have rusty cast iron you dont want to use it because rust taste is AAAACCCKKKKKK  :o i have now tried this 2x and it works superb its called an E-tank. it iwll make it new again.

I have used electrolysis in the restoration of old hand planes to great effect.  If you can't find washing soda, bake baking soda.  Google it.

be sure to use a constant charger NOT a fancy automatic one with a brain, they wont work right  :tup:

and for seasoning there is no need to bake it on the over really, i just get mine red hot on the stove and wipe it down with crisco then take it off the heat. done.

I've cleaned up cast iron by electrolysis as well as using oven cleaner/ vinegar bath. Either way is a fun process and they turn out great! Either way has some dangers to them so read up on it!
