Just looking for a little help on waterfowl hunting
« on: August 13, 2014, 10:35:51 AM »
I just moved here from Louisiana and I will be here until May.  So I'm looking for any info on where to hunt waterfowl in or around Oak Harbor, or even a hunting partner for the season. I am more then willing to put in the time and effort to help with anything that needs to be done before the season.  A little about myself I am a 30 year old single parent of two (ages 3 & 5). Last season was my sons(5) first year hunting the entire season with me. I move to the area to have help with my children while I will be attending school at Skagit Valley for the Marine Tech course.  I  have been hunting for some 23 yrs now, and I try to go as often as I can. I will do just about any type of hunting but hunting waterfowl is my passion.  Thank you in advance for any info that can be given.

Welcome!

I have two pieces of bad news.  First, LA Crawfish are invasive species here (don't get me started!) and second - I'm so sorry to tell you the waterfowl here is no where in the same universe as Louisiana; you might break out into a pitiful laugh as our season breaks compared to down south. I lived in Lafayette for a few years although before I got into waterfowl but still have plenty of friends down there. In fact, I'm looking to head down there for a deer/duck combo in early October.

Feel free to PM me for details on where to go, hunting options and so on. It can be really good but depends on land access and weather; usually gets good in mid November. Check out http://www.duckhuntingchat.com for WA state.  It's essentially the same type of community forum as this but specific to waterfowl.
