Powder Pellets and #11 caps?
« on: August 15, 2014, 03:26:50 PM »
Are there any pellets that work well with the #11 cap? Plus do you still have to use the #11 cap in WA (I'm in AK)?

thanks

You can use a musket cap. Not a fan ofpellets. But I would guess that if any #11 cap would ignite them the RWS Dynamit Nobel caps would be the best.

You will probably need Pyrodex Pellets - they have a small layer of black powder on one end.  Load the pellets with the BLACK end down towards the breech.

I would also suggest using #11 MAG caps.  And as stated Musket Caps are also legal to use.  Another #11 cap you might look at is the Dynamit Nobel 1075+ cap it is the hottest cap on the market.

I really prefer the #11 series of caps to musket caps - if you have the right nipple you can press the #11 cap on so tight so it becomes virtually water proof.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Ya, you have to peel them off with a knife blade - but you have got to like knowing that water can not contaminate the cap or the powder...

I use both #11 caps and musket caps RWS and CCI with both pyrodex and tripple se7en pellets in my bighorn and have never had a misfire or hangfire with any combination of any of it.

Why? If we do it as stated above everything works and we don't need the 209.
Whatever........

There's a lot of things you don't need but when they are more efficient and allow for cleaner burn Id like to use them.
