beef lotto
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:34:45 PM »
Am selling beef sides in the classified section but am wondering about having a lottery for one side...looking to sell tickets for a drawing to be held late december for a 1/2.  Drawing would be for a complete side cut and wrapped ( approx $1600 value..side would be around 400 lbs)..dont know how to proceed with it---would like a 3rd party to handle the process so everyone participating would know its legit...would give the person handing the raffle 10% of the total take...that person would have to provide a contact address so those who are'nt a member of this site can still enter...tell me your thoughts if this is something that can be done and let me know if you would be interested in facilitating it...thanks.

Raffle is a great idea but what about giving to a couple families in need just an opinion maybe  go that route.

I appreciate your sense of community service....let me tell you a little about myself...my wife and I have a 5 1/2 acre "farm"....we have 24 free range laying hens, 3 steers and at any given time 3-4 pigs...we both work 40-50 hours per week in our jobs.... we regularly give away 5 dozen eggs per week and just this last spring donated to the homeless shelter in olympia over 50 lbs of processed pork ...we also gave away via  Craigslist about 80 lbs of beef to a needy family in exchange for a can of wintergreen snoose...not to mention the 90 bales of hay we donated this winter to a gal that runs a home for neglected horses...I'm not trying to toot my own horn but as far as community service goes I think we're doing o k..plus as far as the raffle goes where can you put in a couple bucks for a chance to win 400 lbs of beef ?   I drew a moose tag with 1 preference point in 2006...over 22,000 applicants and 20 people drawn...what where those odds ?

Sounds like a great idea. My wife has done a few very successful raffles. I will talk to her about running it for you.

My wife just informed me that raffles are illegal unless it's for charity or non-profit. She can't help.

Mrs. Quackwhacker is right - see link.  We tried years ago to have a raffle where proceeds went to charity and even that was not allowed by WA state law.

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

What if members donated a few dollars and you just decide to give some meat away then woyldnt itbe a donation toward meat to feed members or a member family just curious.
