Primos Can Call
« on: December 08, 2008, 03:14:26 PM »
This whitetail almost ran me over coming to this call in OHIO. Has anyone used the CAN call with success here in Washington or even out west for that matter?

I've called in some mule deer with it.  Couldn't shoot any of them though.  A buddy has had some success with it on whitetail.  Came running in but stopped short of bow range.

Thanks
I ask because I have a couple of my hunting Buddys says it doesnt work. Everytime they tried it, the deer ran. Just need them to hear it from someone other than me. At times it does work!

I love the can. In Idaho last year I was almost ran over by a 4x4. I had to stand up and put the rifle on his chest. I thought he was not going to stop. Was really cool (after I thought about it)

Called in two different blacktail bucks third week of november this year. They both came straight in took less than 5 minutes for both. That was the only thing that worked. I tried rattling and grunting together and by themself and the only time I got bucks to come is was with the can. I am a believer and now a full time user of THE CAN!

I shot the bigger of the two bucks at 22 yards but my nerves got the better of me and I made a non vital shot.

I think Bucklucky told me its worked for him. Ive tried the grunt tube for 2 years now with no results. :dunno:  Is there a sequence to using the can or do you try it a couple of times and move on?

i've heard of blacktail success using the can. i can see it not working for squat during the e-wa general rifle season when there is very little if any rutting activity going on...the pre-rut or rut's got to be going.

Don't remember if it was a Primos, but it was a Bleat N Heat can call. I called in a whopper one year with just the can but couldn't get a shot. Called him in again the next day with a combo combo of can/grunt/rattle but still couldn't get a shot.

I've used it with pretty good success while Whitetail hunting in Idaho over the years. I love to use it in conjunction with a grunt tube and rattling. I too have had bucks on two different occassions literally run into my set-up.

Ive used it on whitetails in probably 7-8 states. I wont climb into a deer stand without one...I just use if different rut or not...in the rut, I will use an agressive full out calling and rattling sequence.

when its pre- rut I dont rattle..just some light can & grunt

its always worked for me and Id gladly endorse that product.

I called in 3 branched horn black tails in one day in WA.

The can works!

Nope, not a rep, just know it works and trying to convince some hunting buddies...  Actually got the buck last year.
Last day ,was catching a plane in 6 hours to fly back home. Decided to be aggressive and walk through the woods. Take 4 or5 steps while hitting the Can call. Stop and listen. Did this for about 200 yards. Next thing I know here the buck comes with his head down. Had a 15 yard shot, would of been closer had I waited. Pretty exciting.
