Trail report? Am i gonna get snowed out?
« on: November 05, 2014, 11:30:48 PM »
Im considering one last run up Buck Creek Pass for bears this year...but Its pretty high and Ive heard the snow is anywhere from 6000-8500

Im wanting to hunt where the treeline ends. Will i find berry filled meadows...or snow fields?

Thanks guys

dave

I don't know where Buck Creek Pass is, but, it's not very cold out, it's 50 degrees here, we get a small amount snow around Thanksgiving or as late as Christmas. There is no snow at 5500' as of today on Sherman Pass.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

If you're talking about Buck Creek off of 410, I think you'll be in the snow, but berries are dead any way. Last week I was in snow about 5,000 feet. Good luck, I hope you find one.

Last year the last weekend of westside deer I was post holing in 2' of snow at 5k'. I don't know where you're talking about, Dave, but you can check the snotel site for current snow depths in the mountains. You're definitely not going to be in berry fields. I'd wager you'll be in the snow.

berries will be gone there. people ski that in the winter so you "can" go anytime of year, but as for it being productive  :dunno:

There's about 4 inches at Lyman Lakes around 6k'.  With rain in the forecast I suspect at least a few inches on Sunday.  It wouldn't stop me from getting out If I really wanted to.  YMMV

P.S.  Be prepared for rain.  I find it easier to get hypothermia when it's just above freezing and wet then when there is a firm blanket of snow.
