That time of year has come.

It's game week.

Did that last week. Felt good to get out.

Wish I had time this year for scouting. having to go in cold this year. Too much to do this summer getting firewood for the winter ect. Not holding my breath for a successful trip this year but going in cold is better than not going at all.

Hey fillthefreezer...I don't see any side arm on your list. Do you not carry in the back country. I get saving the weight thing. It's a few extra pounds with ammo. I wonder how many of you do or don't carry and why?

I don't carry one, too heavy. If I was hunting in Grizzly country, I would, but here in Washington, there's nothing in the backcountry that scares me.

I mostly don't carry. I have a rifle with me and usually have enough other stuff to drag around. If I'm not carrying a rifle(hiking only) then I do carry.

I carry a rifle, would think that's enough. If I was somewhere with grizzlys I'd carry for sure

Dink: ya we were hunting bear. Berries STILL weren't really popping. Had a shot opportunity this morning. Bear winded us at 190 as we were getting setup to take the shot.

We leave for Colorado Thursday.

Grizzly: no we don't carry side arms. Not worth the weight penalty, and I've got some type of weapon with me when I'm hunting.

And for scouting I find in leaving it at home more and more...just really not that nervous about needing it.  At least in this state.

Yup ! Northern B.C. in two weeks.  The boy got his Kennetreks yday - last 13W in the US.  I did my last prep hike wednesday.  Took the Kennetreks up Mount St. Helens.  Changed socks at the top but feet were happy !  10 mile round trip.  Finally Hunt time !

Hope you two have a great CO hunt.  I know you'll do it justice.
