Too quiet on this board this year
« on: August 21, 2014, 01:18:33 PM »
Well either you guys aren't too excited this year or just too busy. Seems in the past this board is blowing up so close to opener.  Maybe we'll get lucky and it won't be too crowded this year. Wait....I'm dreaming again.

100% the reason for people not participating on this website like they use to.  I have experienced it first hand and it really changed the way I post.  It is really kind of sad.

Also factor in a lot of good contributors have left.

I have no problem with helping anyone out when it comes to answering question about hunting but I do have a problem giving out to much information on hunting spots ..This is a forum and think if everyone decided to show up at your hunting spot all at the same time  :yike: I would just have a heart attack on the spot  :dunno: It is very important as a hunter to get very familiar with the area you live in and master the skills to be successful in that area ..I love hunting around my home ..lots of time to scout and learn where and not to hunt . Less outsiders the better  :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm a huge promoter of this forum but I won't post location pictures anymore if it is a public land spot. Hell, I won't even post private land spots. I went on a big (for me) backcountry hunting trip this past weekend and took some pictures. I took some strategically angled photos so as to not reveal location but then I thought about it and decided there wasn't much point in posting those, since there wasn't much to talk about.

:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

There must be lots of things to discuss other than hunting spots. :dunno:

This is why when you see me posting pictures I never show any background ...Zoom that sucker in close and shoot away  :chuckle: :chuckle:

I suppose I could talk about all the upland birds we are seeing while training this month up in N.C. Montana.   But then again it would probably just get people excited so I better not... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Could be due to problems posting. I have tried 3 times today to post pics & story from the Oregon antelope hunt I returned from last night and have had no luck. Maybe its just me screwing up, wouldn't be the first time  :chuckle:

My thought  :twocents: is that many threads get derailed and go negative quickly, if I posted a pic or hunting story now; I run it through the filter of "PETA, grammar police, punctuation cops, hunter orange, WDFW, archery guy, range guy, my wife"...... you get the idea.

this was poorly worded and punctuated...I know.
Honesty is the best policy,  but insanity is a better defense.
