The count over Bonneville is dropping, but there are still some around.  I was actually trolling in shallow water for silvers & picked up this nice hen, 18 lbs.

Yeah, they're fall Chinook destined for the upper Columbia (Hanford Reach area).  They're genetically built for the long journey and as such are considered a much higher quality fish than the local fall Chinook.  Highly sought after in this area.

Personally I would call them mid river brights, it isn't up river till they pass wells IMO

I'd say until they pass Wanapum, but you do have a point.

Yeah, you do have a point, but we call them upriver not upper river & Hanford Reach is certainly upriver from here.  Besides midriver brights just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Trolled shallow water this morning for a few hours for silvers with no luck so anchored up in 48 ft. for kings & caught a silver (Wild - released) - go figure yesterday fishing for silvers catch a king, today the opposite.

I see a lot more boats are trolling now & they're catching both silvers & kings.  Talked to a guy at the dock who gave me some pointers on trolling (I'm new to this).  I'll give it a try Monday, not fishing tomorrow.
