WATER PROOFING FOR BOOTS
«
on:
August 25, 2014, 04:02:55 AM »
Hey Gang,
Quick question?
I just bought a pair (My first) of White's Smoke Jumpers.
Whats the best water proofing you guys have found for these non-lined leather boots. I heard snow seal rots the thread. Big Foot boot grease is what I used in the past but cant find it any longer.
If this has been discussed a link to it would be cool by me.
Thanks for the help.
Whitey..

Thanks Rasbo and Keith.
Hope to lace these boots up and head to grouse camp when I finally get out of New Jersey. ( That's if they don't send me to Michigan after this gig is finished)
SkyValley hope to see you up in the honey hole. Just keep an eye out for me and Harley the wonder lab.

Will be heading over on Thursday to do some hiking and scouting down low. Just going up high to hunt grouse a couple days this year. Will keep an eye out for you..

Wont make it that early this year. In New Jersey on an AOG wont be home till like the 5th of Sept.
Then of to Germany on the 16th. Small window to roll over there.
Let me know what the bird count is when you get back.

Use sno seal on my whites, Nicks & danners.
Danners are 10 years old & still kicking.

Whitey, I've been trying for years to get my Smokejumpers to seal with no luck. If you find a method that works for you I'd love to hear it. The only positive note about my Whites in wet weather/streams is that the water runs out nearly as fast as it runs in.

I've used them all except Rustoleum never wet. I only use "Aquaseal" now, I got a sample at a DU event and never went back. Also it is made in Washington in Monroe.
