My broadheads always drop a little faster out more than 20 yards. They fly fine but they do drop faster. My 20 yard pin is good. My 30-yd pin is about 4" low. My 40-yd pin is 6" low. I now use the 40 for 35 and my 50 for 40. I've never had field points and broadheads shoot exactly the same. I know a bunch of guys will come on here and tell me my arrows or bow aren't tuned right, but that's not the case. I believe that a 125 gr broadhead has more surface area and more drag than a 125 grain field point.
PMan, I'm not going to suggest that you do any adjusting this close to the season but I'll just say that my instinct would be to move the rest up slightly to get better grouping.  Just curious whether you have tried that?  If not, I would try it, maybe after the season when you have plenty of time for testing and re-sighting your pins.

My grouping is really great. At 40 yards it's about 3" total. I'll think about trying to move the rest, but if it's just to make the broadheads hit the same as the field tips when the broadheads are already grouping very tight, I'm not sure I want to mess with it. They're certainly flying straight. Windage doesn't change at all. And at 20 yd, the point of impact is identical.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to mess with it now and it sounds like you're ready for the season.  Good luck. :hello:

Your broadheads must be HUGE!!

There...I didn't tell you your arrows or bow aren't tuned right or that you are just messed in the head  :chuckle:

Pman, I just shot my BHs out of a new setup the last two nights. My BHs and FTs were grouping perfectly for windage, but my BHs were flying 4 inches high at 15-40 yards compared to my FTs... well... I moved my rest down a scosh under a sixteenth inch and now my FTs and BHs group perfectly.

Anyhow... my point is, I wouldn't be scared to move my rest up if I were you, a sixteenth or less. If something goes awry, you can always move it back.

You know, first you guys tell me aligning the vanes and the blades does nothing after I've been doing it for several years. I tried un-aligning them and you were right; it makes no difference. Then you tell me that broadheads should shoot in exactly the same place as field tips and I contend that the broadheads have always shot a little lower as I go up in yardage; 20 years of shooting this way. So, I moved my rest up a half notch and now they're shooting in the same place as the field tips up to 45 yards. Next thing you're going to tell me is that smelling like a brewery and putting on cologne to cover it up is freaking out the elk. I don't know you guys. Being wrong is ticking me off! :bash:

No lie there. I missed a big bull last year, although I don't think I can blame that on anything but me and judging distance incorrectly.

Im glad to hear it worked! These bows are so dang adjustable... it really doesn't take long to get perfect arrow flight as long as the bow is in good functioning condition!

As long as you don't get more than five yards from the beer cooler you should be just fine! ;)

Be careful not to apply too much of that Wildlife Research "Fire" cologne.  I've found it will get the yellow jackets in a frenzy!  When that happens you then have to drink more beer and the cycle continues :yike:

Although, all that stogie smoke should cover up the cologne smell and keep the yellow jackets at bay. :chuckle:
