I heard somewhere that Yakima county was the Black Widow capital of the world.  I believe them....

No shortage here but the biggest I have seen are in Las Cruces, NM.  I'll try for a picture next time we make it down there.

My mom found one on an outdoor table in my parents back yard and put it in a fruit jar.  I'm not sure why she just didn't squish it on site, none the less, she showed it to me when I got home.  There was a bottle of bleach on the counter and being young and no fan of spiders, especially BW, I thought Hmmm, bleach, BW spider in jar, wonder what will happen if I mix the two.  So I filled the fruit jar about 1/3 the way with bleach.  In a matter of seconds it bleached that BW into this weird almost translucent color.  I think BW are creepy as hell looking anyway but an albino BW was even more creepy.  A few seconds longer and that BW just disintegrated into nothing.  And they live in Yakima County.

I only saw a few when I lived in E-Burg, but coming from the west side I had never been exposed to them. One fall evening as it was starting to get cold outside I killed 4 that were on the move around the outside of the house. Had never seen one before and only saw one more afterward. Creepy, gangly looking suckers.

There are quite a few around Rock Lake south to Benge in the scab rock too. When i was splicing fiber in Ewan we would have to go into the C.O. and turn phones online again and a HUGE one lived in the battery storage area and i would feed it the cold yellow jackets from a nest by the door outside during the winter! Most I have ever seen was in Hell's Canyon hiking one year and I carried a dark maroon pack with black on it. For some reason only on my pack, every morning when I woke I would have to brush off about 2-3 black widows before putting my pack on! I'm feeling jittery now just thinking about it! Every tickle would make you freak out!

Camping down on the Klickitat this last weekend we had 2 end up in our tent. First time I've ever run into them while out camping.
