Weaver scope question
« on: December 07, 2014, 10:26:10 AM »
I finally got out on Friday to shoot the Mini-30 with a Weaver 3-10X 44mm scope. At my 25 yard sight-in, on 3X, the crosshairs were clear, but the targets were a bit fuzzy. I screwed the eyepiece forward until the targets came into focus. the crosshairs remained clear.

After initial sight-in, I moved out to 100 yards and stepped it up to 10X. Both the crosshairs and the target went out of focus. I screwed the eyepiece back out until the targets came into focus, but the crosshairs remained fuzzy to the point where I couldn't really tell where to aim. I fired one round and it hit 4" high, but the crosshairs were almost that apparent width on the target.

Is this scope defective or is it always going to be that bad? The only other Weaver I've had is a 4X fixed scope on a Win Model 88. It doesn't have any problem moving from 25 yards to 100+ yards. I'll call Weaver next week unless I have to call China or whatever.

Most likely focused at 100 yards from factory. Look at the sky focus x-hair. Look away and do it untill when you look everytime the crosshair is in focus. Now look at anything over about 50 yards and all should be clear. !00 and out should be really clear and in towards 50 reasonable.

I forgot that technique, LEN. I'll give it a try and report back. Problem is, I won't see the sky here on the wet side of the mountains for another six months! :)
