Taking canned chicken in vacuum bags?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this or knows of a way to get canned chicken out in the back country without taking the actual cans.  I was thinking of opening it and putting it in the vacuum packer and see how long it would last?  Just trying to switch it up from the mountain house meals.

Not saying it can't be done, but I wouldn't. Do a google search for chicken foil packs. You can find it on amazon already packaged in that type of packaging. When in the back country you don't want anything to make you sick and ruin your trip

Do you have a dehydrator? No way would I take a chance with your idea. If it's real important to you, get a dehydrator and start DIY'ing some meals. They're more work than I want to do though....call me lazy. You  can get those chicken foil packs and Westside mentioned. You can also get the tuna ones. Ramen type soups, Idahoan instant mashed potatoes, etc to change things up some. As soon as you expose that chicken to the air, it's going downhill. Don't do it. How will you know when it's 1 day farther than how long it will last, then you're SOL deep in the mountains puking your guts out.

Too heavy as well. Food is heavy enough, don't make it worse. Peanut butter, bacon, bagel sandwiches are excellent backpacking food. Great source of animal and vegetable protein, as well as carbohydrates. They hold up well for a few days too. Get creative. Rice-a-roni, noodle-roni, Top Ramen, and Idahohan mashed potatoes are some good alternatives.

Just leave it in the can they don't add that much weight, and at least for me it is worth it.  Bring some tortea shells, dried chili's and herbs, like oregano and cumin and make some tacos

Search the web for "Tyson chicken pouch".....I think that's what you are after, 7 oz portions in a vacuum-packed foil pouch.

If you have the right chamber sealer you can make raw chicken into MRE-like pouches.  They are called Retort Pouches.  You have to vacuum seal them and then pressure "can" them in a pressure cooker.  Or just buy the pouches already done.

I think I am going to go the pouch route.  My hunting partner came up with the idea and it sounded a little sketchy.

Haven't tried my own or ordering from any site.  I do have another site at home that has freeze dried ingredients and single serving condiments if I remember I'll post that link too.

That's what I do.
