Entiat grouse hunting

Went grouse hunting up mad river, Preston creek, mud creek, and para to creek today and didn't see 1 grouse!  Any tips on a place close buy that I could find some?!

Did you road hunt them or walk ridge tops.  I was in the same area (roughly...) And saw 7 (shot 2 big blues).  The others didn't present good shots or I would have limited.

We mainly road hunted unless we got to a spot where we knew grouse have been in there before.  Should we try walking the ridges next time?
