Sounds like you got the most out of the hunt. Way to go. I was surprised to not hear about sleeping in that truck. that had to be cold but good motivation to get it done.

I'd just get done hunting eat a quick meal and hit the sack at like 6:30 or so since there was nothing better to do.The second half of the hunt when it got cold I was sleeping in two sleeping bags (one inside the other) with a wool blanket under me, one on top of me and wore long johns, sweat pants and sweat shirt! and that was just enough to keep me comfortable. I'd wake up in the morning with all my water solid ice.I used the big buddy heater in the mornings when getting out of bed but was nervous about running it all night.

Go to town and spend $11.00 on a good Hot Water bottle.Boil water while cooking dinner throw it in your bag and sleep like a baby all night.Next day re-boil same water ditto.
Great story, Great memories, and an awesome buck with lots of character. A buck's score is overrated! I'd take a unique rack over score any day! Congrats!

It gets cold over there especially if you are in a vehicle. Way to push through and stay focused on the prize. That is a great buck and it sounds like you earned it with the effort.I love the fifth point and score doesn't matter, I think you are right on the money with your guess and would be really happy with that deer. It scoress better than most that will fall this year and you have the chills not sweat that you put into getting it. Good job.
