Pull string goose and duck decoys

Hey does anyone know of any good motion decoy companies that use a pull string or any other method besides battery? Obviously here in Washington we cant use the battery powered stuff so I would like to find something that would work that is not battery powered.

Look up aero outdoors. They make a great pull string duck
Decoy. Plus I think they are local wa company. Outdoor emporium in Seattle usually has them in stock

Notty Duck, if I spelled that right makes a good pull string/spinning wing decoy. Also Bill Saunders makes the WhipSplash spinning wing decoy. Both are good decoys.

Googled nottyduck with the wife sitting next to me, lets just say I was clicking back very quickly. Changed the search to Knotty duck and had better results!

Cant find anything on the whipsplash, but did find the knottyduck and the motion decoy that Aero outdoors makes.

Bill Saunders doesn't make the whip splash. He used to sell them. The whip splash is made in Scapoose Oregon. By Eric strand the company name is Decoy Dancer. He makes the spinning wing "whip splash" as well as the "kick splash" a duck butt with feet that spin and splash the water. I use both products with great results. Just search for Decoy dancer or S2 calls and you will find them.

I have a whipsplash/decoy dancer and it is a well made product. Don't use it that much though.

Cabela's @ Tulalip has the Whiplash in drake and hen mallard for $139. Just fyi. Stopped in as I was headed home from scouting and saw it hand, had to buy one.

I have an aero that I like.  What products are you saying are better?  Just the knotty?

Paul Sullivan made some changes to the Aero due to issues.  Access to the band was and may still be an issue unless you have smaller hands.  The wings used to fall off on my Aero as well and it was a difficult fix in the field.  I would also have to twist the band to get the tension that I needed.  I found the whiplash and knotty duck were both better builds and easier to pull and more responsive.  Especially in very cold weather.  After frequent use the aero became very loud in the field.  If you don't hunt much or use the aero much, it probably will work for you.
I know I just want something that works good in the field, is quite, easy to operate and assemble and can take the abuse I run it through.  I don't want to have to put it in a sock and then a secondary bag and gently carry it to the field for it to stay working.     I hunt hard, so I guess this is just my opinion and experience that I am passing on.  Agree to disagree, I had an Aero and I sold it for a reason.  If it stood up to my style of hunting I would still have it.

I've had durability issues with mine and fixing it is a pain.  But, it does work and I didn't know if other brands worked as well and were more durable.

I have had the same Whipsplash for several seasons. Probably 200 hunts? Have changed one drive band.

What about motion goose decoys? I hunted with a guy last year one time and he had a motion goose decoy that was pull string that sat on the ground and the wings flapped. I never asked him where he got it and I should have.

Bigfoot made a flapper goose decoy along time ago and Dave Smith made one. I have a Bigfoot flapper that I'll trade you.
My daughter goes to EWU and has shot turkeys and ducks but not a goose. It'll cost you taking her on 1 goose hunt around Spokane or Cheney.

Broken clocks are still right twice a day. I still wouldn't run one. I have had so many geese flare on a spinner it literally blows my mind.

I agree with not using a pull string flapper for geese. My brother had one several years back that we deployed on several occasions. Though it looked good to my eyes it did not perform well on geese. A flag remains the most effective motion that I can add to my spread.

I use the knotty pull string and beat the crap out of it and it it works great. I've had it for 4yrs and have only replaced  surgical tubing once.  Make sure you clean it and spray it good with wd40 after ever 3 or 4 hunts.

Might work ok with the correct amount of wind at the right direction but I never like to trust any wind activated decoys. I prefer my jerk cord and aero duck.

I have the kicking butt pull-string decoy... works great on bluebird days when i need ripples on the pond.

Honestly the kicking butt decoy from ure a duck the worst thing I have ever bought. I felt the decoy itself was pretty flimsy and the motion is less than what a jerk cord offers. Just my opinion though I am glad you like yours.

i have the aero and have done a bit of modification to it. i like the shell but not the mechanism. the feet are easily broken off if not careful. they are only held on with a single screw and the plastic isnt very strong. have epoxied mine in. the rubber band drive is a joke and needs to be replaces with a lightweight surgical tubing or elastic. the opening in the bottom of the shell is small and hard to access the drive system with normal sized hands. the option for the pull string to come out of the head or feet area is good and the mounting post is nice. if you can do a few mods it seems to be great a little loud at times . i do think the best would be the decoy dancer mechanism with the aero shell.

Just got my whip splash in the mail today. My cousin uses an aero and we compared the two tonight. The surgical tubing mechanism seems way smoother and is not loud at all in comparison to the Aero. The Whip splash was 135 bucks from Cabelas without a carry bag or pole to mount the decoy on, for 135 bucks you get a carry bag and an extension pole  for the Aero. I am anxious to see how they perform next to each other. Time will tell for sure.
