Two archery whitetail tags - one day.
« on: September 12, 2014, 09:27:18 AM »
Both my life time friend Jon and I tagged out on 9/3; his in full velvet, mine rubbed off the morning of 9/3 (have trail cam pics with velvet all over his head hours before I poked him). I shot video throughout the entire hunt and have simply not stitched it together yet. We stayed at Buck Canyon Lodge and had a blast!

Not the biggest bucks ever but it's Jon's first deer and mine is the buck I was targeting this year (no sign of Junior this year) so I once again passed on other shooters; we're both really happy with the entire trip and our deer. On the other hand, I'm pretty disappointed with my shot placement. He was slightly quartering to me but an easy shot at 26 yards however my arrow nock stayed in my bow string (see pic) which caused the arrow to fly funny and impact the deer poorly - so much for my brand new Bloodsport arrows. We found him less than 75 yards from my tree stand but I had to let him sit overnight and a bear nibbled on his roasts.

I'll work on getting the video put together but in the meantime, here are a few pics.

Thanks all!

While I have your attention...

I didn't think to check/glue nocks fresh out of the box except when I was considering swapping out for lighted ones; I simply didn't think to check.  Ultimately, everything is my responsibility but I'm wondering of it's a common occurrence for new arrow nocks to stick in bow strings when they aren't checked and glued if needed?

I shot these BS arrows for practice before swapping to broadheads and even robinhooded one. Each arrow was numbered for accuracy so I know exactly which one malfunctioned.  Is this a check you guys do after buying new arrows?

Appreciate any feedback.
