My sweet hearts first archery deer
« on: September 07, 2014, 04:52:39 PM »
So my wife decided that the only way she was going to see me in Sept was to take up bow hunting.  :chuckle: After finding her a reasonable second hand bow (2008 Martin Jaguar) she started practicing. She would religiously shoot for up to an hour each night. She became quite good, and was looking forward to opening morning. We went to a property that we had permission to hunt and there would be no other hunting pressure. we exit the vehicle, her confidence high. Upon arrive at the blind we had set up, we see several does out in the field, slowly working toward us. As the near a large doe clears the bunch and turns to look back at rest. I ranged her at 32 yards, and Alina lets fly. Her arrows clears air a foot over back. Doe jumps, but doesn't run. I calm alinas nerves and tell her that she still has chance. The doe is shaken, but unaware of what had happen. She slowly begins to fee again, and works her way to 25 yards. Again she lets fly. Just under this time. Doe doesn't stick around this time and runs off, taking rest with her. Alina is crushed, very upset about missing, and i assure her that a clean miss is better than bad hit, but she doesn't seem any better.
We spend rest of morning in stand with no more deer showing up. We head into town and have lunch. That evening we head out to a diffrent property in the area. We walk through few draws, and don't see anything. As evening approaches, we decided to head in before dark. As we near truck, (by now only 10 min shotting light left) She see couple does standing off in some brush. I am unable to see them, so tell her its up to her if she wants to shoot or not. She decides to take shot. After shot, i asked her if she hit the doe and how well place she feels shot was. She states "It was perfect" I tell her we will give few mins, get light andhead lamp from truck, then go look for blood. after about 15 mins we head to where she thought doe was standing at shot. we immediately find arrow, and blood. bright red, bubbles in it, blood. she is very exited. We found her about 20 min later in some scrub oak. She jumped up and hugged me, screaming "I GOT ONE, I GOT ONE!!!" the drops to knee beside her and thanks Lord for providing her, and the doe for giving her life, so our family may eat. Very Proud of her. She is hooked for life. :rockin:
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

I may not have alot but what I have I got honest.....

I'd rather be hated for what I am then be loved for what I'm not

Is it me, or are people getting dumber

It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

Sarcasm: The ability to insult stupid people without them realizing it.

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity...

Sarcasm makes smart people laugh and stupid people mad.
