Holy Bear Crap!!!
« on: September 13, 2014, 05:33:16 AM »
Check out this pile or rather splatter of bear crap.. If you look close you can see where the bear squatted and literally blew the gravel away from the impact site and splattered it around the shape of his body.....  Good crop of wild plums this year.. Way too many bear this year...

Where do you find wild plums?  What elevations and moisture levels?  I live right up the road from the lodge and I'm tripping over bears right until the service berries dry up when season opens, then the bears vanish.

All elevations from 4ooo ft.+ to down by the Lake. They do like some place moist. The bears go from service berries to hawthorn berries to plums and apples. Just before hibernation they go to mountain ash and sow berries( snow berries ) and quince trees. Find some plum trees right now and you'll find bear. Here is a pic of the plum tree the bear that crapped was feeding on.

right on thanks.   right now i have a cam at a wallow that a bear has chewed up FOUR TIMES!  twice this week during daylight hours.  every time i fix it he comes and re-aims it within 3 days, so i fixed the cam again and im gong to sit at that wallow and wait for the little bugger to come back to chew on it again!  seems like a plan to me.  if that doesnt work ill start trying to find plums and hawthorne,  only place i know of with hawthorne is a friends property.  he has cattle there right now, so im not even going to ask.  heres the little berrorist now,  not only did he get that cam 4 times, but hes also the guilty party in a cam chewing a few hundred yards from that spot.  he must die!
