New to the Forum / New to Hunting - LF Deer or Rabbit Partner
« on: September 14, 2014, 01:26:44 PM »
Hello!

I was referred here from another firearm forum (my true passion is shooting in general, not necessarily at game) after I've had a hard time locating a partner for general firearm deer season in WA.

I am also on the lookout for someone to show me the ropes for hunting rabbits for food.

I'll be joining a lifelong hunter in OR this year hunting for deer a few weeks before the season starts here in WA so I won't be completely green.

A few things:

I'm in my late 30's.
Have a family.
Am flexible on times of the day and week.
I've been told I'm an excellent shot (started at age 4).
Interested in hunting game for food - farmed beef isn't working for my dietary restriction.
Eagle Scout as a kid.
Lots of outdoor / camping / survival training.
CPR & First aid certified from the time I was a teenager.
I have all the equipment I need and transportation.

*** I am not looking for anyone to share secret places to hunt or anything like that, I'm just looking for someone who could use another gun and pair of hands - I'm looking to learn what I can and get whatever meat I can for the freezer.

**I would want to meet up and have coffee or something to make sure we are compatible before the season starts.

Looking to go out on Oct 10th to find a campsite and get set up to hunt the morning of the 11th.

Most likely will head out the gorge a ways to get out of Vancouver.

I'm in Battle Ground and I'm still looking for a reliable partner for the coming season.  I went out last year with a couple of guys I met on here that worked out well, but don't have any commitments for this year.  I'm also late 30's, have my own gear, CPR/First Aid Cert (have to for my job) and I'm pretty flexible (I'm a teacher with some sick days saved up).  My main issue is I'm from Texas and I'm certainly haven't found a good hunting area/used to hunting these thick woods yet.

Thanks,

S
