Nooksack access
« on: September 16, 2014, 05:54:06 PM »
I know there has been similar posts in the past but my searches have come up empty. What would be the best way to find out where to start going scouting and such up in the Nooksack? What type of land is it primarily, by that I mean is it private timber land? State? etc. From the topo map there is a place I thought looks worth checking out 3-5 miles directly west of the southern end of Baker Lake. I have not been up around there before at all but I am really wanting to start getting out in the units I put in for tags more often. The other units I know but the Nooksack I dont. I want to get out scouting, deer, bear, or coyote hunting in the area to learn it so I dont have to go begging for help if I were to ever draw it. Is there land you can camp on? Local campgrounds? Not looking to get anyone's special areas or even asking where the elk are at, I can figure that out once I find out where I can get access. Anything is appreciated, even just a small general idea. Once I know where I can or cant go then I can put the work in and earn it. Thank ya

Most of the unit you won't have access to until you draw a tag and are given the magical key that opens up the private timber land.   :twocents:

Do you automaticlly get one of those keys when you are drawn for the tag or do you have to pay an access fee or anything for it?

The timber company will give you one for free after you draw the tag. Sierra pacific is the owner
