Lots of young dogs this year and then one old female probably on her last year. She a few years past her prime. A good recipe for disaster... Lol. But last night was great. No trash races and no nonsense babbling outta the dogs. Conditions were not what I hoped for at home we got some moisture but where we headed off to was still dry. We hunted till about 1:30 will two long slow moving races that both came up at a loss. So we decided to put the mutts in the box and hurry over to the other side of the mtn to another drainage that we believe had got some rain. As we driving at good pace Gunny struck outta the box, so we drop him to give it a shot. He warmed the track up real fast with deep redbone bawl. We added the old lady Lucy to the mix and she joined in and they worked it got 100 yds into a creek bottom. It's on! So out came the rest of the bunch! Pixie, sassy, baya, and trapper. They all dove in pushing the critter up the steep brushed trickle of a creek through blow downs and briar patches. The youngest two dogs sassy and trapper were hit and miss on the race. When the big dogs got out a ways they decided it was time to hang out with us. Silly pups. They pushed the coon up the creek a few hundred yards to where it treed in a buffer strip of tall firs and hemlock. Now the trick was for us to get in there... We waded through the jack firs and briars side hilling up toward the buffer strip trying to avoid debits club and wild roses.  When we arrived the dogs were doing great staying on the tree. Up over head was the little masked bandit looking down on us. He did a good job and work the dogs hard up over and through all the brush and logs. We let the little feller live for the next adventure. It was 3:30 when we got back to the truck and decided to call it a night.

Nice .. I like Blue Ticks for coon hunting ..Sure miss those days when we ran coon in PA... You guys would be in heaven because it is wide open hardwood timber ...do not need to kill yourself getting to the dogs ...that's blew me away when I went on my 1st race in Western Washington ..all the brush and spiders and stinger needles  :yike:  Good lucking dogs

Went for a hunt tonight it went great. Roaded the dogs for few miles than rigged them the rest of the night. Pretty slow going with this dry weather. Hunted a couple hours with no action we did have a few deer longer in the rd which was nice for the young dogs. Not a peep outta them. We had two cold strikes that they could put together. Than on our way out we had a hot race that went about 100yds and up a tree right along the road. A good night! The kids had a blast as always. My little guy was out 10 minutes in and jumped wide awake when he heard the dogs treed. He was awake for all the action then right back to sleep. I'm jealous. Lol. Anyway here's a few pics to share.
