Got a bunch of furs back from Moyle's today, wow they turned out nice.  I highly recommend them to tan your furs.   I got several beaver last winter under the ice and such and the furs were just in fantastic shape.  They turned out so nice.  Going to have 2 pair of ear muffs made, a pair of slippers, and a pair of mittens.  Also going to have one of the nice coons I got made into a hat with the face and tail.

That sounds awesome. I've always heard good things about Moyles. How much did it cost for the beaver? Do you know what they get for a coyote?

Coons were $17.00 each
XL Beaver were $26.00 each
LG Beaver were $24.00 each
Med Beaver were $20.50 each

Just a note to people who read those prices. In order to get a good tan your furs need to be ready to go in the tan solution, in other words completely fleshed.
I have always had very good results with Moyle Mink & Tannery but I send them completely fleshed and dried furs.

Sweet deal... thanks for the post. This place looks awesome. Saw a big fat Raccoon at work tonight... couldn't help but think for around $20 I could've made a hat.

Yes, like when you send to fur sales but even more so if you want for a wall hanger.
Furs sent to the sale are going to be made into garments so nobody cares about the ears or even the entire head. If you want it for a wall hanger all that needs to be fleshed and the cartilage removed from the ears. Otherwise eventually the hair will fall out. Also if you leave the foot pads on they will be hard when you get them back. Easy to remove the foot pads. I usually just leave the toe pads. The ear cartilage can be tedious but it needs to be removed. Ok to leave on small animals I think. I never had a problem with rats or mink but wouldn't risk leaving it on a cat, coyote, beaver.........

Does anyone know of a tannery that still does hair off tanning?
I checked with Moyles and they no longer do it and did not know of anyone.

Did you check with Moscow Hide and Fur?

yes, I talked to Moscow H&F, an outfit in Nampa, one in Chahalis and some I can't remember.  No luck.  I was told most of the tanneries have closed down.  I did a small hide myself and all went well except for the "breaking"....it is still pretty stiff after many hours trying to get it right.
