Anyone using a icon pro how do you like it, frame holding up? I'm thinking of getting a 7200 pack and a 1800 bag. If the frames questionable I'm gona get a exo.

That's the exact set up I use. I pack in with the 7200 and swap the bag to the 1850 for day hunts from spike camp. The bags are awesome, well thought out design, durable materials, and easy bag swaps. Internal and external straps make load securing very stable. The padded shoulder straps and waist belt feel great, shoulder straps have a plastic retainer for a camelback hose, the load lifters work like they should too. Being able to lay the pack down flat and unzip the bag, folding it open, is a big plus for me. I hate top loading bags that you have to take everything out of to access the bottom. The new frames are tough as nails too. VERY beefy carbon fiber and ridged as heck. The bottom of the carbon frame is round, allowing it to pivot left to right in the belt pocket while you walk. Not much movement but enough to be very comfortable. For the price, weight, comfort, and design, I don't think any pack on the market beats it. I've had all the big name brand packs on my back, and while Kifaru is nice as well, at half the price and just as comfortable, the Kuiu Icon Pro is a better buy.

Couldn't take a pic of my 7200 loaded up, but here's my 1850. Love it.

I'm going to have to try your set up. I recently got the ultra 6000 and 3000 and 1500 bags and am pretty impressed. Kinda hard leaving the Kifaru at home though.

Thanks LoJack for the info they sound like a great pack. I also like the fact that you can lay the pack down and unzip the back instead of the top. Probably gone order mine next weak

I just got my new 5200 Icon Pro by Fed Ex. Although I haven't packed as animal out with it, it is a very comfortable pack and seems to be very durable and well thought out, as others have said.

Just got my icon pro 5200 it is to small for me. It wont adjust to my torso length of 23. Also the velcro on the back of the shoulder straps is splitting on a brand new bag. Customer service at kuiu isn't that good either they are trying to charge return shipping for a pack they promised me would fit my size when I called. I am now going with the stone glacier sky 5100 just a little more money and lighter weight. Anyone compared the ICON PRO 5200 to the Kifaru Duplex frame (and a typical kifaru bag)?

I own the Duplex + DT2.

It is built like a tank. I have loaded the unit with two 50 lb sandbags and walked a couple miles...okay 1.5 miles

...

The weight remained on my hips and off my shoulders.

However, wondering KUIU might be more comfortable, not to mention that I can pick up the ICON PRO frame, 5200 bag, and 1800 bag for less than what I paid for the DT2.

Received my Icon Pro 1850 w/frame last week and so far i'm very impressed with the quality and how well it was thought out. Night and day difference from m badlands 2800. Have yet to pack any weight in it. Ordered the hip bags also, fit and finish is par none.

I bought an 1850 pro this year. I think it is a nice pack. Well laid out as far as pockets go- easy to organize the smaller essential gear. The main bag is plenty big to pack extras too. I think it makes a great day pack. I helped pack out a buddies elk with it. I think it did pretty well. I don't know how much weight- but whatever a bone in hindquarter and a pretty hefty bag of loose meat weigh. Load sling works great, and the load lifters work well too. Frame seemed plenty strong, I noticed nothing to indicate that it would fail. Stayed pretty comfortable, though I felt like it was slipping off my hips a bit at times. I have a 34 inch waist, and I believe I bought the L/XL belt cause that is what was recommended for my size. I pretty much max out the adjustment to get it to sit down tight. If I did it over again, I would probably get the smaller belt. I too have the hip pockets. Not impressed with those at all. Almost impossible to use one handed, and awkward to access with two hands if you have the pack strapped up tight, at least for me anyways.
I did have one day where I just about threw the thing off of a cliff though. For whatever reason, it just started squeaking one morning when I was hiking in to my hunting spot. I tried to ignore it for awhile, but eventually I just got pissed. It is amazing how aggravating squeaks can be after awhile! I ended up taking it off and readjusting ALL of the straps. Pulled and tweaked everything, readjusted the shoulder straps, completely reseated the pack on the frame. So far that seems to have worked. Only time will tell. Overall, I would give it a A-/B+ for performance. We will see about longevity...

If you are having squeaking with your pack take the frame off the bag. There is a pocket where the bottom rounded part off the frame slides in that is where the squeak comes from. Clean it out and put some powder graphite in there and reasemble. Had the same problem with my and it solved it.

Yeah, that is kind of what I found out. I also noticed that there is a little protective strip that runs around the bottom of the frame inside that pocket, and mine has come unglued. I don't think that it effects anything, just something I noticed. I will try the powdered graphite if the squeak comes back.

I would doubt you could get 70-80, 60-70 maybe? The top part of the pack is pretty narrow, and somewhat shallow, but the bottom is quite cavernous. I am always surprised how much you can keep stuffing in there. I guess it would depend on how well you packed the deer. I wouldn't bother though. The load sling works very well, and it really takes no time to set the pack up for it. That was probably the main reason I went with this pack, so I guess I never considered packing meat into the pack itself. Maybe I will get a chance to give it a shot on the late muzzy hunt. I will update my response if I do...

I had the first line of the 1850 and returned it for the Ultra 1800 and 6000, right after that they came out with the Icon Pro line.

I packed out my elk this year and my buddies muley with the Ultra and it performed flawlessly. Similar to the Icon Pro, more slimmed down, less padding on the shoulders but I didn't notice any discomfort, don't think you can go wrong with either line.

Whats the difference between the frame sheet vs poles? I get the sheet...just unsure if I've seen the poles.

I have a Kifaru duplex DT2 which is built like a tank, but I am thinking about switching to the icon pro 5200/1850.

Wondering if the kuiu frame is more comfortable on me.

The frame sheet is what's needed if your hauling meet or any weight. The poles pretty much just make the 1850 a day pack

Trying to decide if I want to get the 5200 or the 7200? hmmmm... does the 7200 cinch down for a usable daypack? (daypack for me would hold spotting scope/tripod, extra layers, ect..) Would possibly use this for a high hunt and want to make sure I would have enough room to get a deer out. anyone any experience with these? thanks!

Was thinking about this option. Probably not going to want to carry the extra 1850 bag in to the high country tho. Would most likely cinch the 7200 down for day hunting from base camp. Just wasn't sure if the 7200 compacted down.

I've read it compacts well.

The 1850 weights 22 oz and the ultra 1800 weighs 9 oz. That's light enough to haul into the backcountry for me, esp since all the walking will be from.base camp.

I scouted this yr with a 1300" day pack which was awesome, so I'm looking forward to the 1850 for day hunts.

My main pack this yr used was 5200" and weighed over 7lbs.

That ultra bag is cheep right now. Might pick up that too and try both.

I picked up the Ultra 3000 and the 1850 Pro bag during the sale. Not sure how much I'll use the 1850 bag as the 3000 compacts down nicely though the Pro bag is a quieter material IMO. Haven't hauled any weight in it yet but it fits well. I had an EXO 3500 on order and I cancelled when it wasn't going to make it in time for my late hunt. Had already waited since July and I figured 3 months was long enough to wait. Ordered my KUIU and had it in 5 days

I have th Icon Pro 7200, and so far I love it , way better than my Badlands 2200. Been walking my hill and back 3 miles with weight(72lbs) and it feels great...

I bought the 7200 last year and used it for my elk hunt! love it. made my 50lbs way comfortable. I am excited to see what a animal pack out will feel like on it. the quality of the bags are great!

I used it this year in idaho and eastern oregon. I used the 1850 as a day pack which allowed me to break down all three bulls and pack out the first quarter. That pack is money well spent. The kuiu booth is usually at the utah sportsman show so u can try on all there gear. Salt lake is a fun place to visit if u get a chance.

No experience with icon but the Kuiu Ultra 3000 is a great daypack - meat pack combo. No need for a smaller bag for a daypack or larger for a meat pack but a lil small for multi day packs. We used them for a weeks backpack in BC and it hauled out a couple moose 5 miles no problem. But getting all our gear in a 3000 size is tough. I picked up the bigger bag for future multi day trips. The ultra is a minimalist design perfect for daypack meat pack combo weighs like 2 lbs.
