BET ON THE BLUES
« on: September 21, 2014, 09:36:57 AM »
Got the jump on blue grouse in one of my favorite haunts.

First two of the day fell to my Franchi O/U 20-gauge and high-base No. 6 Federals

The bigger bird was found about a mile down the road, and I followed it into the brush with my .22 pistol, where it walked right in front of where I was shooting!

nice! and here I thought when I read the topic that we would be discussing a poor outcome of a hunt.

It was a poor outcome. I missed one bird and didn't get a limit.   ;)  :chuckle:

There are plenty more out there.
It's because they don't try to "manage" grouse in Olympia.   :chuckle:

IMHO the Ruger MKI or II or whatever is one great little grouse popper.
I bought a MKII magazine and actually converted it (thats easy) for use in my Standard/MKI pistol, which originally came with 9 round mags and now has a 10-rounder.

I'm on assignment in Chicago right now, but when I get back, the birds are in trouble!
