while on the phone yesterday with WDFW they said it was 200 extra permits, or 7% herd reduction goal.

Which phone number did you call Tony?

I bow hunt bud.

Been the same for the modern "quality" guys for years as well, don't think you are the only one!
I don't follow the modern season too closely, but you're saying they have given out permits that weren't in the regs after the draw has taken place?  Haven't heard of that.  I'm irritated because I applied and drew a permit that had at most 15 in guys in one unit hunting deer with their bows.  It might not make much of a difference and I really shouldn't be surprised by the decision the wdfw made.  Just makes more sense to put the doe hunts after all the quality hunts have taken place.  Doubt these new permit holders will even leave the road so probably won't affect my hunt much anyways.

What difference does it make if you issue the whitetail permits in the regs or after the regs come out in your case?

Yes, modern guys on average wait 10+ years for one of the 10-15 late tags in these areas, only to show up and see non "quality" hunt tag holders all over the place looking for whitetails.

Why not issue the non quality tags for the week before, or perhaps the week after the highly touted "quality" hunt takes place?

This year guys that have also waited 10+ years for one of these tags will show up and the deer will be flying all over the place, having been pressured right up to the first day of their "quality" hunt, when in the past there has been a week or so for the deer to calm down. Now they will be under high pressure from Oct 12th through the end of November, non stop. :bash:

I was drawn too, Im torn on it. I definitely feel bad for the late buck hunt boys. I'm half tempted to buy the tag and throw it in with my any bull grande ronde for a great soup. If my 40 some bucks could be used to help feed some deer, I'm happy to do it. Then again, I wouldn't mind the meat either.

You are clearly not paying attention, the deer in those areas will not move once they get to their accustomed wintering areas, and ultimately starve to death wondering where all their food is. :chuckle:

Instead of doe, they should have made them two point tags..........    When its all said and done, that's all that will be left standing.
