Don't believe me? huh? there are laws for almost anything...sure, call me a :tree1:, but I like peace, quiet, and a natural wilderness. Not a wilderness with technology hidden in it.

You have posted trail camera pictures on this forum. The same forum you just posted that you don't like technology in the woods.
 :dunno:
I guess maybe your cameras are not in the wilderness areas, just the woods. Is that the (miniscule)difference?

I just love it how you guys complain about a $100 camera to stealing and vandalizing a $15000 SxS or a $55000 truck. You guys really show your colors. There's a huge, huge difference.

Yeah about a 14950 dollar difference.  But that makes it ok...?  If I only left a few hundred dollars in damage by hotwiring that side by side for a little heat then its the exact same thing.

Any of you been to paradise, at the base of Rainier?  I expect to see a lot of cameras there, I even expect a few people to get a few picks of me and my family in the background, unintended.  I have no expectation of privacy or being alone.

I do go to certain places in the mountains and expect privacy and don't expect to have my picture taken at all.  Whether you are behind the camera or not, I liken it to someone following me around with a camera.  Unattended camera's in public spaces are way out of control, if you spend much time at all in the woods both on and off the trails, you will find them easily.

Yeah these trail cams are really out of control.   :bdid:  give me a break!  its public land no expectation of privacy.  Its public.  Like the poparatzy takes photos of all those people in PUBLIC, legally.  then sells them.  Your photos are taken at most stop signs and in almost every business.  Get over it.

I don't need to get over anything.

My comment was not directed at your post.  I had yet to read your opinion on the matter.

Not wanting your pic taken is fine by me.  But trail cams being out of control...  Come on.  Because you may have had your pic taken on public land?

Are you in support of Trail Cams being banned Bone?  If so, may I ask why?

Are you against of all the video and pics that are taken within the city by business owners, the city, the county, the police, the parks and rec, satellites, media ect, ect ,ect.  Those are the pics and video I consider out of control and if anyone wants more privacy they should direct there efforts towards those sources.  Not towards the guy who just wants a pic of an animal.

A lot of interesting posts here. The bottom line is stealing is wrong in any way, shape, or form. Yeah it sucks but it's the chance you take whenever you put out a trail cam. The thing some of us have to understand is this is a place people like to vent to people with the same interest and not to take things personal :twocents:.

There are a lot of true colors being shown on here. If it is not yours, leave it alone. Don't open it, vandalize it, or steal it.  Someday someone will get caught in the act and something bad could happen.  Stealing or tampering with someone's property is wrong on every level.  Everyone know the property is not abandoned whether a tent, camera, or side by side. Treat others and their property how you would want you and yours treated.

when you leave property out there, you run the risk of something happening to it but I don't get some of the attitudes on here.

To the OP.  If you enjoy solitude, I wouldn't suggest a photo of a legal buck with background photos on theInternet.

Some of you guys kill me. Your attitude is, leave my stuff alone, it's mine, unattended for weeks on end, and you expect people not to steal it, grow up.........

I have also found that the further you get away from roads or quad trails the more respect people have for the wilderness and property.  This comment/avatar confirms that.

My feelings as well. I know that I risk losing my cameras every time I put them out but in no way shape or form does it make it ok for someone to steal them or make me "at fault" for leaving something out on public land. I have agreed with the majority of your posts Campmeat but this one I 100% disagree with. How ANYONE can even remotely justify theft is beyond comprehension.

I share your opinion 300, that's why I said I don't need to get over anything.   When I am pounding the concrete I expect to be on vid surveillance for security purpose.    When I am in the Wilderness I don't expect to be photo'd necessarily.   I head for the woods for solitude, alone time, whatever you want to call it.  I head for the wilderness when I really want that.   I cant even use a chainsaw or pedal a bike in the wilderness.   Do you think there might be a reason for those rules?

That being said, no I am not for banning trailcams.  They are a hobby that folks enjoy.   There might be a time when this attitude of its mine and leave alone will get to be too much when you find them scattered all over the place.   I try to recognize them and leave them alone, but that public land is also there for me to enjoy, not to tiptoe around folks setups.  I had an occasion where I drew a special elk permit and USO oufitters put a trailcam on every waterhole in a unit.  I saw the truck as I was standing by a waterhole when he pulled up.  There were over a 100 trailcams filling the back of his truck.   I thought that was over the top but as far as I know perfectly legal.  Does that mean he owned the rights to every water hole?

I do not support thievery, or vandalism, but I don't think  you should be surprised if this happens to your setup.  Especially if you do leave it for weeks on end.  I do not compare this to your vehicle, wheeler, or camp.

I appreciate the photos that I have seen from these cameras.  SOme are outstanding, some are of outstanding critters.  I have even thought about asking for one for my birthday so I can put it on a couple crossings I know have giant bucks around them every fall.

by the way, I love the photo from the OP and wish he did have more and am sorry he lost his card.  I did think that might be a plausible reason why it was just the card and not the camera, unless of course he packed in a log chain.
