Montana Gov Tag ram

Have you guys seen that thing.  HOLY COW!!!   I heard the tag went for nearly half a million.   That may just be heresay.   If I had the cash, I'd be going after one of those goliaths.   That thing is just unreal.

Just  curious about those Gov tags.
Are they for areas not accessible by general draw hunters? Seems like the gov tag holders get the monsters when others may be hunting all around. Am I missing something here?

More time I suppose.  I assume I know what unit this is from, sorta like our Swakane unit on roids.   The animals get bigger because of multiple factors such as weather and isolation.   There are a coupel guys on here way more versed on sheep than I am that have that info.

I would love if the money from this hunt helped to figure out this whole disease thing that we struggle with so much.

Are they for areas not accessible by general draw hunters? Seems like the gov tag holders get the monsters when others may be hunting all around. Am I missing something here?

I've heard and read where many of Gov tags winners hire many to scout areas get pictures of big sheep, Elk .. in WA I heard they had 3 scouters and a helicopter in the Quilomene looking for big.. When Moneys no Problem it really opens up your options,..

I want to say he "breaks" in MT have 30-35 general draw tags available. Horrible odds to draw but what sheep tag doesnt have horrible odds? Most auction hunters hire qualified outfitters that know what big is and thats the main reason they kill big sh-t.
John L. in the pic has been on more big ram kills in the breaks than anyone else. He knows his sheep but there has been several draw tag hunters that have killed big rams. Several over the magical 200 mark.

If they can afford 480K for bid and tag, several scouts to find mister big is a cheap way to find him! Also dont they get a "tag" that is good well out of seasons? Kind of an all year tag?

If they can afford 480K for bid and tag, several scouts to find mister big is a cheap way to find him! Also dont they get a "tag" that is good well out of seasons? Kind of an all year tag?

MT is a bit less restrictive.

Airplane Spotting

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for the purpose of locating, spotting or hunting
big game, upland birds or other species under the management authority of FWP during
commission-established hunting seasons is prohibited.

My understanding it was all scouted in the summer for big ones.  Where would be the best place to hunt during season.

Was it a Thompson Falls area Ram?  That area really used to produce some toads as well...  Anyone hear how close to the 200" mark + or - this monarch green scored?  Thanks for posting the pic.
