Doesn't matter if he was shooting the rifle or not. If dude says he is hunting deer in a firearm restricted area and is carrying a rifle...also In a area not open to modern firearm deer. Sounds to me like he's breaking quite a few laws and admitting to them.

Was he shooting the rifle?

Is it illegal to carry a rifle in a  rifle restricted area?

No. That's why I asked.  But, as answered, the guy said he was hunting, not just carrying.

Pathetic.. doesnt matter what he didnt do, or what wasnt proved by what forensics lab. man its funny how many of you would look for any way to call someone out and smash them, but yet look for any tiny loop hole to get away with something when its convenient either morally or for fun  the man stated he was HUNTING DEER. the end  I am quickly losing respect for alot of members here. masn i thought you guys were just slippery when it came to fishing regs.

I'll hunt with my regs book, you hunt with your attorney, i guess.

doesnt matter if he was exercising or what he was hunting (but he said he was lookin for deer), either way,  its a rifle restricted area
This says the guy said he was looking for deer. As mentioned, out looking for deer and hunting deer are very different.

If he said he was hunting deer, then I agree with calling it in. If he said he was looking for deer, then I think ya jumped the gun a lil.

You might as well be a poacher making a statement like that.

What if he was new to hunting? With nobody to teach him right or wrong these regs can get confusing,I tend to cut people slack before assuming they are breaking the rules on purpose...

so that makes it right? or ok? reading the regs book is his job, if hes too lazy he shouldn't be hunting. but the regs there are very clear. its archery season, how hard is that lol

No, but why is it wrong for someone to possess a firearm while scouting? I always have a firearm when I'm in the woods. Hope I never run into you. I'd hate to get called in for poaching.

It isn't but when you in a rifle restricted areas. A place you can't carry a hi powered rifle for any hunting.  Pretty illegal to me.
