Almost ... UTAH and WY elk app time.
« on: December 11, 2008, 10:21:44 PM »
Application season starts Just around the corner. Anyone putting in for Utah and/or Wyoming elk?

I'm going to put in for a late season elk hunt in utah. Only have 5 or 6 points so real long draw odds for that one.

going to put in for a  good elk unit in Wyoming. I have max points but still less then 10% draw odds.

Not really expecting to draw either tag but it is fun dreaming.

Good luck to everyone that applies.

Craig, didn't you hear?  WY pushed back the NR elk app. period to March!  Honest ... trust me ...  :chuckle:
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

That's the great thing about hunting, I'm sitting at work watching the daylight fade on the last day of
deer season, and I have my Wyoming 2009 application I got in the mail waiting at home for me!

I'm sitting here trying to figure out which unit to hunt in CO next year.  Got max points in WY and half a dozen deer points in UT which means I've got about 10 more years before I draw the tag I want.

My wife saw me and was yelling at me b/c I just got back from Kansas last week and was already planning next years hunts.  She just doesn't understand. . .

You fire off enough apps and you'll get a tag somewhere. I think I'll just take a point in WY until I figure out where I want to go.

I am probably not going to apply for Wyoming this year.  Going to cut back a bit.  Utah is just a pipe dream but too much invested there to give up.

I will be putting in for both. Can't draw if you don't apply

I need to get my license soon.  I'm gonna be in phx next week but probably can't get an 09 license yet.  I hate putting my license fee in with every envelope.  They have the DUMBEST application process. They keep changing it wich makes it even worse.

big_bucks, you need to arrange to take the hunter ed couse while you're there and get your permanent bonus point. It could mean the difference between drawing and not. Plus after you draw you still have a point. I agree with you about there system. It keeps getting worse every year.

I'll hit it up before I apply this year.  I've got at least one more trip down there as I've got to pick up some meat.
